Director, CEO, Co-Founder – Snowline Gold Corp.

Talk Abstract:

Valley is a newly discovered, reduced intrusion-related gold system (RIRGS) in the Yukon Territory’s Selwyn Basin. The deposit is hosted primarily within a 1-km-scale, mid-Cretaceous age, multi-phase granodioritic stock emplaced into Paleozoic siliciclastic sediments. Gold occurs primarily as native gold within overlapping arrays of small (1 mm to 10 cm scale) quartz-carbonate veins, with a high correlation to bismuth and tellurium. The intensity of these vein arrays and their high gold content produce unusually high gold grades for a RIRGS within a broad ~700x500 m zone of mineralization beginning at surface. Based on 28,000 m of drilling to the end of 2023, an initial, pit shell constrained mineral resource estimate prepared for Valley has 4.05 million ounces of gold indicated at 1.66 g/t Au and an additional 3.26 million ounces of gold inferred at 1.25 g/t Au (1).

This talk will outline the discovery and exploration history of the Valley deposit along with its local and regional geological setting, deposit-scale geology and mineralogy, and deposit attributes including geometry, geochemistry, and geophysics.

Speaker Bio:

Scott Berdahl is a Yukon-based prospector and geologist, and co-founder of Snowline Gold Corp. He has been involved in mineral exploration for more than 25 years, beginning with seasonal work in the Yukon wilderness as a young prospector’s “assistant” to his father and extending since to grassroots and resource-stage exploration efforts across multiple continents. He has been closely involved with Snowline’s Valley deposit from early prospecting and claim staking in 2008 to the recent initial mineral resource estimate and ongoing exploration efforts.

Scott earned his BSc in Geology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an MSc in Earth Science & Engineering from KAUST in Saudi Arabia, and an MBA from INSEAD in France and Singapore. He is a registered Professional Geologist with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.
