Come and meet the University of Toronto's newest economic geologists.
Russ Pysklywec, Professor and Chair of Earth Sciences will introduce the departments newest Assistant Professors, Dr. Daniel Gregory and Dr. Melissa Anderson, who will speak about their research in economic geology.
Bios:
Dr. Melissa Anderson (PhD, University of Ottawa and GEOMAR). Dr. Anderson has just completed her postdoctoral research at the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research in Kiel, Germany. She is an economic geologist doing research that looks at genetic and exploration models for massive sulphide deposits in back-arc tectonic terrains.
Dr. Dan Gregory (PhD, CODES, University of Tasmania). Dr. Gregory is an economic geologist and geochemist who studies paleo-ocean chemistry and hydrothermal ore systems. In particular, he uses a host of micro-analytical techniques (NanoSIMS, LA-ICPMS, synchrotron-based XANES) on pyrite to characterize the geochemical profile of major mineral deposit types (porphyry, SEDEX, VHMS).
