Structural Controls on Magmatic Ni-Cu-PGM Sulfide at Wallbridge Mining’s Parkin Offset Dyke Deposit in Sudbury, Ontario
Wallbridge Mining Company Limited (TSX:WM) operates several partner-funded joint ventures exploring for nickel, copper, and PGMs in Sudbury, Ontario. Wallbridge is currently focused on establishing a significant resource on its Parkin properties where the past-producing Milnet Mine, the high-grade Milnet 1500 Zone, and a historic resource are hosted within the Parkin Offset dyke.
Recent drilling highlights include 24.25 metres core length of 1.22 % Ni, 1.50 % Cu, and 2.15 g/t Pt + Pd + Au from 35.60 metres down-hole. New mapping and modelling demonstrates the control that pre-existing structures have (at several scales) on the emplacement and morphology of the offset dyke and sulfide deposits. This work provides a useful guide for targeting exploration within offset dykes which are responsible for about one third of the mineralization in Sudbury.
Significantly, despite 125 years of production, large Ni-Cu-PGM deposits continue to be found in Sudbury. New discoveries in the region since 1990 contain over 130 million tonnes of high-grade, including 5 billion pounds of nickel, 9 billion pounds of copper, and over 20 million ounces of platinum group metals.
Wallbridge is also completing acquisition of Fenelon, a high grade gold development project in Quebec, and owns 16.8% of Carube Copper Corp. (TSX-V:CUC), which has partner-funded exploration on joint ventures in Jamaica.
