Alan Wilson, SEG International Exchange Lecturer and International Exploration Manager, Antofagasta Minerals

Speaker Bio:
Alan Wilson received his BSc in Geology from Edinburgh University in 1990 and MSc in Exploration and Mining Geology in 1991.  He joined Rio Tinto's exploration group in 1991, initially in Ecuador, then Bolivia before continuing to develop his base and precious metal experience in Peru with Renison Goldfields and Billiton from 1997.  In 2000, Alan moved to Tasmania to undertake his PhD on the recently discovered Cadia porphyry gold-copper deposits in New South Wales, graduating from UTas in 2003.  Following a period exploring for sediment-hosted gold deposits in Western Australia and Chile, and, since 2010 with Antofagasta Minerals in Chile, Australia, and, currently, Canada.  These largely technical roles have enabled Alan to conduct exploration and property assessments throughout North and South America, Central and Southern Africa, Fennoscandia, China, Australia and the Indo-Pacific region, evaluating the economic potential of porphyry, skarn, sediment hosted, IOCG, magmatic and VHMS-styles of copper deposits.
